Refund policy

First, exactly what you're buying. The Marlin is an honest everyday boat shoe at $45. Here's what it is, in plain terms, so there are no surprises when the box arrives: a leather-look upper (not full hide), waxed cotton laces (not rawhide), a siped non-slip sole built for wet decks, and stitched moc-toe construction. Built overseas, the modern way — like nearly every boat shoe sold between $45 and $110 today. It is not a $300 hand-sewn pair from Quoddy or Rancourt, and I'd never tell you it was. What it is: the classic shape and fit, at the price a boat shoe used to cost. If you want the full breakdown before you buy, it's all on the product page, and you can email me first — I'll give you an honest read.

The 30-day promise. I stand behind every pair I send out. Wear them — on the dock, to dinner, through a real summer Saturday. If within 30 days of delivery they're genuinely not right for you, email me at selvaine0@gmail.com with your order number and tell me what's off. I'll make it right. Depending on the situation that might mean a refund, a partial, or a replacement — we'll sort it out directly, founder to customer. I'd rather you be square with me than stuck with a pair you don't wear.

You don't need to ship anything back. Return shipping on a $45 pair costs more than the shoe is worth and just creates hassle for both of us, so I don't run a send-it-back process. When we settle a refund, you keep the pair — donate them, pass them to someone they fit, whatever's easiest. No labels, no boxes, no waiting on a carrier.

Damaged or wrong item. Check your order when it lands. If it arrived damaged, defective, or the wrong size or style was sent, email me within 7 days at selvaine0@gmail.com with a photo. That one's fully on me — I'll replace the pair or refund it in full, your call.

Sizing — read this before you order. The Marlin runs slightly small and snug, and gives a little as it breaks in. If you're between sizes, order up half a size. If you wore pre-2012 Sperrys, same size as those; post-2014 Sperrys, size down half; Bass, Sebago, or Cole Haan, same size. Unsure? Check the "How They Fit" guide on the product page or email me before you order and I'll give you a straight answer. Getting the size right up front saves us both the trouble.

European Union — 14-day cooling-off period. If your order ships to the EU, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of delivery for any reason. Email me and I'll handle it.

How refunds are issued. Once we've agreed on a refund, it goes back to your original payment method, typically within 10 business days. Your bank or card processor may take another 3-5 business days to post it. If it's been more than 15 business days and you don't see it, email me and I'll trace it.

The bottom line. If something isn't right, get in touch. I'm one person, I read every email, and I'd rather solve it than leave you unhappy. — Tom Reilly, Selvaine
